I know that I need you now
The key that I won’t forget
But you’re lost in Paris (you’re lost in Paris)
Lost in ParisI hope that you’re warm and safe
The memory that I can’t replace
But you’re lost in Paris (you’re lost in Paris)

It was over in day
All the things I used to say
You’ve kept the same
All the place we would go
All the songs we got know
You held it allI know that I need you now
The key that I won’t forget
But you’re lost in Paris (you’re lost in Paris)

I hope that you’re warm and safe
The memory that I can’t replace
But you’re lost in Paris (you’re lost in Paris)

Well, young young, all in love in a lost place
Gettin’ down, get me runnin’ round in a rat’s race
Save grace
But I fell in love with her small waist
Uh, let me start, left, right ya, ah
Bang, shot me, kept my heart and it hurt ‘cause
She’s so fly like a dove that’s a dove face
Doesn’t know what she’ll get now
But there’s in her birthplace
Tom, don’t tell her but it’s Paris for her birthday

This is a part of Tom Misch’s song ‘Lost in Paris’. This song strongly points out the style of music Misch plays. This sang he song D’Anthony Carlos who is commonly known as GoldLink. He’s a rapper who is becoming more known over time.

Whilst it’s easy to assume that ‘Lost in Paris’ from Tom Misch is singing about wanting to reconcile with a lover long lost in Paris. He is, however, literally singing about a memory stick he had lost in Paris which was very important for him, as he revealed in an interview with Radio 1: “The song is actually about a memory stick I’d lost in Paris that had a lot of new music on it. I got it back, I’d left it in my hotel room, and wrote a song about it. The confusion of a lover and a memory stick full of music does, however, seem to be by design of this song. On the opening track of the album ‘Geography’ which also includes ‘Lost in Paris’ is called ‘Before Paris”, where Misch delivers an impassioned monologue on his unconditional love for music, and so it makes sense that losing one’s livelihood is like losing a lover. “Starting to try to be a musician or artist because you wanna make money, because you wanna do a job, that’s – that’s the wrong way. You have to love it and breathe it and – It’s your morning coffee, it’s your food.”
