Yesterday – The Beatles
I find that this song really fits with the moment, I can visualise it in my head, Thomas walking thinking of his family, his brother, and everyone he ever loved. He’s thinking how everything went down, and all of the moments, including sergeant Hanley’s death. It’s a very tragic moment and I find that this song makes it a lot deeper and sad than it already is. People will empathise with the characters in this scene. It adds a lot of feeling.
Page 19 Up theme song – Motion pictures I find that this song fits with the moment where Tommie is going to the old tree and sits there, tying his boots. That part is a good part for Tommie, he learned something new and made a new friend, Molly. Thats why I found this upbeat piano fit with this moment, it adds feeling to the moment. It is a Disney song which is why it can’t be used, but I think it would fit with the moment.
Page 21 – 22 Imagine – John Lennon I find that this song makes the moment of Tommie’s and Charly’s death a bit more sad, and it gives it meaning. When they’re at his funeral. Funerals are always sad, I find that this song from John Lennon just makes it deeper. It can also show the thoughts of certain characters, which will probably be Tommie. The song itself is just very good which attracts people and make them empathise with the Peaceful family.

I enjoyed reading your blog post and really liked it. Your text had been well written and was easy to comprehend. I noticed that your comments on the song had an emotional voice or tone as they were relating to the novel. Your selection of songs also makes the listener realise the sorrowful lives that the soldiers such as Tommo and Charlie had. This was essential to our task and it reflects on your understanding of both the novel and the songs’ emotional connect, which as reader tempts me to listen to your selection of songs.
It is a pity that the blog post is incomplete as it contains only 3 out of 5 required songs and is missing a title to your playlist.

I liked your blog post and the selection of songs due to the following reasons. You have used songs that fit the theme and context of the moments you have chosen. They are sad and emotional songs and you explain them with an emotional voice as well which indeed fit the theme very well. You have also used an informal writing tone for the rationales, which makes your post easy to interpret and understand. It is great that you mention the page number of the moments you are referring to, as this makes it easier to look back at as a reader.
However, it is a pity that you didn’t choose five songs as per the task we were assigned.
